Guilty Crown

A 2011 Production I.G science-fiction series about Shuu gaining a mutation that can turn what he reaches inside people into weapons.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

A meteorite and the lethal Apocalypse Virus shattered Shuu’s world and left him fearful. A chance encounter with pop star Inori introduces him to the King’s Right Hand, a mutation that lets him reach into people and turn what he finds into weapons. A secret agency and Inori’s rebel group both want that strength. Privacy has deteriorated.

Super Eyepatch Fox

The Apocalypse Virus leaves Shuu timid and isolated. Pop star Inori draws him into a conflict between a clandestine government agency and the rebels of Funeral Parlor. Then he gains the King’s Right Hand, an ability that turns what lies inside people into weapons. Both sides want his choice.

Gigguku

Shuu is already carrying the fear left by the Apocalypse Virus when pop star Inori walks into his life. Then he gains a mutation that lets him reach into human hearts and pull out weapons. That is enormous, invasive, operatic science fiction. Now a secret agency and a band of rebels both want him, and choosing a side becomes impossible to avoid!

Father's Basement

The series announces its metaphors so loudly that interpretation is optional. Its premise still contains a sharp discomfort. Shuu can reach into other people and turn what he finds into weapons, so his new strength is never purely his own. A government agency and Funeral Parlor both want that power, placing his fear and indecision under immediate pressure.
