Privacy Policy
This policy explains how Atsui handles personal information when you use the service.
1. Who operates Atsui
Atsui is operated by Maroup, a registered business based in California, United States. This Privacy Policy explains how Atsui collects, uses, shares, retains, and protects personal information when you use atsui.app and related services.
For privacy requests, contact [email protected]. For general product support, contact [email protected].
2. Information Atsui collects
Browser and device information. A random browser identifier, IP address, browser and device details, referrer, page views, searches, outbound clicks, timestamps, and security or diagnostic events.
Page view measurement. Atsui counts page views with Umami, analytics software Atsui runs on its own server. It sets no cookie and does not follow you between sites. Each view records the Atsui page, the page you arrived from, screen size, language, and approximate location, country level, derived from your IP address. Your IP address and browser details are turned into a daily visitor identifier that cannot be reversed, and the key behind it is replaced every day, so the same browser is not recognisable from one day to the next. Atsui removes anything beyond the page itself before the measurement is recorded, including campaign tags from the site you came from and any private link. No third-party analytics company receives this.
Account information. Your name, email address, profile image if supplied by a sign-in provider, email verification status, hashed password credential or linked sign-in provider, account creation date, private reserved handle, policy acceptance version and time, and session details such as expiry, IP address, and user agent.
Anime activity. Your lists, watch progress, ratings, imports, release dismissals, preferences, and compatible anonymous activity automatically attached from the same browser after you sign in.
Billing records. Link or Stripe customer, subscription, price, invoice, payment, charge, and refund identifiers, plus plan, subscription status, payment status, renewal period, amount, currency, grace-period status, and cancellation or refund dates. Atsui does not receive or store your full card number.
Support and feedback. Messages you send, the page involved, optional screenshots, device and viewport details, and the status of our response.
Afterparty and other social features are unavailable at launch. Atsui does not publish a launch account profile or watch activity. Before releasing social features, Atsui will explain any additional public or shared data and update this policy where required.
3. Google sign-in data
If you choose Google sign-in, Atsui receives the Google account identifier, name, email address, email verification status, and profile image that Google makes available for authentication. Atsui uses this information only to create and secure your account, sign you in, prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts, show your account settings, and provide support.
Atsui does not use Google user data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not use it to train general-purpose artificial intelligence models. Atsui stores only the provider linkage and credentials needed to keep your sign-in working and secure. You may disconnect access through your Google account settings, and you may delete your Atsui account through Atsui account settings.
4. How Atsui uses information
Atsui uses personal information to provide accounts, save your anime activity, personalize recommendations, process and manage subscriptions, attach compatible anonymous activity from the same browser after sign-in, provide customer support, send transactional account and payment messages, keep the service secure, diagnose errors, measure product performance, prevent abuse, comply with law, and improve Atsui.
Where a legal basis is required, Atsui relies on performance of its contract with you, legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, consent when the law requires it, and compliance with legal obligations. You may withdraw consent where processing depends on consent, without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.
Atsui does not send marketing email at launch. Account verification, password reset, security, subscription, refund, and service notices are transactional messages needed to operate your account or purchase.
5. When information is shared
Atsui shares information only as needed with service providers that host the application and database, deliver transactional email, monitor uptime and errors, protect the service, and provide customer support. These providers may process information only for the services they provide to Atsui and under their own legal obligations.
If you use Google sign-in, Google processes the authentication request. If you purchase Atsui+, Link acts as the merchant of record and Link and Stripe process checkout, payment, tax, transaction support, receipts, subscription management, refunds, and fraud prevention. Link and Stripe receive the payment and identity information required for those purposes and retain information under their own policies and legal duties.
You can connect a chat assistant, such as ChatGPT or Claude, to your Atsui account. Nothing is shared with one unless you connect it yourself on an Atsui approval page that names the app and lists what it will be able to do. Once connected, it can read your list and the recommendations Atsui makes for you, add anime to your list, and change what you have marked as watched. It does not receive your name, your email address, or your profile picture. Whatever it reads is then handled by the company that operates that assistant under their own privacy policy, not this one. You can end a connection at any time under Connected apps in your Atsui account settings, which immediately stops that app from reading or changing anything further.
Atsui may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect users or the service, investigate fraud or abuse, or complete a business transfer. If ownership of Atsui changes, personal information may transfer with the service subject to this policy and applicable law.
Atsui does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Atsui does not use third-party advertising trackers at launch.
6. International processing
Atsui is operated from the United States and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have different data-protection laws from your country. Where required, Atsui and its providers use lawful transfer safeguards and respect mandatory local rights.
7. Retention and deletion
Atsui keeps account and anime activity while your account is active so the service can work. Sessions expire or are revoked. Security, diagnostic, support, and product events are retained only as long as reasonably needed for their purpose. Atsui may retain limited billing, fraud, tax, security, and legal records when required by law or needed to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
You can delete your account through account settings. Account deletion removes the account and associated Atsui activity from active systems, cancels the subscription, and ends paid access. Limited information may remain temporarily in protected backups until those backups expire through the normal retention cycle. Link, Stripe, Google, and other providers may retain information they control under their own policies or legal obligations.
8. Your privacy choices and rights
Account settings let you review or correct core account information, export a copy of your Atsui account data, and delete your account. You may also contact [email protected] to request access, correction, deletion, or help exercising a right available where you live.
Depending on your location, you may have rights to receive a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. California residents may have rights to know, delete, and correct personal information and to receive equal service when exercising applicable privacy rights. Atsui does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Atsui may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Some information may be exempt from a request or retained when law permits or requires it.
9. Children
Atsui accounts are not intended for children under 13. A higher minimum age applies where local law requires it. If Atsui learns that it collected personal information from a child who could not lawfully consent and did not have valid parental authorization, Atsui will take reasonable steps to delete the account and information.
10. Security
Atsui uses reasonable technical and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections, access controls, password hashing for password accounts, session security, restricted production access, and provider controls. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
If you believe your account or information is at risk, contact [email protected].
11. Changes and contact
Atsui may update this policy as the service, providers, or law changes. If a change materially affects how Atsui uses personal information, Atsui will provide reasonable notice before the change takes effect when required.
Privacy questions and requests can be sent to [email protected]. General support requests can be sent to [email protected].
