Synopsis
While the Second World War continues, teenage Mahito relocates from Tokyo to the rural home of his new stepmother, Natsuko. Adjusting would already require time. A persistent gray heron then begins following and provoking him, eventually calling him the long-awaited one. The local wildlife has therefore taken an unusually personal interest in the new resident.
