Gigguku

Trapped in a video game where dying is permanent is still one of the best hooks anime ever produced, and I watched it in gulps I'm not proud of. The early floors are the good stuff, ordinary people deciding who to be when the game becomes their whole life. The romance became the internet's favorite argument for a decade. It started the isekai boom for a reason. The hook does not miss.

Father's Basement

The haters have receipts, the writing wobbles, the later arcs wander, and the show keeps handing its hero wins he didn't earn. Now the other half. The core image, ten thousand strangers building lives inside a game that wants them dead, is legitimately great, some floors are haunting, and the genre wave that followed traces straight back here. It matters more than it's good, and it's better than its reputation. Both things are true.
