Water polo provides an unusual sports setting while Minato's missing school-year memories complicate his return to competition.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Minato Kiyomizu wakes from a long coma without memories of the school year when he won a national water polo title. Now entering high school, he wants to leave the sport behind. A promise draws him toward a struggling new team, where his old reputation is considerably more useful than his current memory.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Minato once won a national junior-high water polo title, but an accident leaves his final school year absent from memory. He begins high school determined to quit. A promise brings him back to the pool, where a weak new team expects ability from a player who cannot remember earning his reputation.

Gigguku

RE-MAIN gives Minato a championship history that feels like it belongs to someone else. Then a struggling high school water polo team asks him to return to the pool! His missing memory makes every decision about the sport personal because the achievement everyone recognizes is the one part of himself he cannot access.

Father's Basement

Amnesia is an aggressive shortcut for resetting an athlete, and the new team begins in predictably rough shape. Water polo gives the familiar rebuilding structure a less common setting. Minato carries a champion's reputation but cannot remember creating it, so returning to the pool means confronting expectations attached to a missing year.
