Shoko Komi appears graceful and untouchable to her new classmates. In reality, speaking to people is painfully difficult. Tadano notices, and a private chalkboard exchange covers her goal of making one hundred friends. He volunteers to help because beginning high school was otherwise insufficiently complicated. Komi Can't Communicate turns the gap between her reputation and her anxiety into comedy, then lets one written conversation remain quiet.
