Synopsis
Office worker Kobayashi wakes after a drunken night and finds Tohru waiting outside. Tohru is a dragon in a maid outfit who remembers being invited to live there. Kobayashi's morning has developed an administrative complication. Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid builds its opening comedy from supernatural enthusiasm colliding with a tired programmer's routine, including breakfast suggestions that would concern most health inspectors.
Kobayashi is an office worker with long hours and a hazy memory of the previous night. Tohru is the dragon she invited home while drunk, and she arrives dressed as a maid to accept. Their new arrangement puts fantasy power inside a small apartment and weekday routine. The first episode gets its comedy from Tohru's total commitment and Kobayashi's attempt to keep one morning recognizable.
Kobayashi opens her door and finds a DRAGON ready to move in as her maid because of one drunken invitation. Tohru attacks the job with enormous confidence and very questionable ideas about breakfast. Kobayashi answers all this with the exhausted focus of someone who still has work. That clash is immediately funny, and the domestic premise gives all the fantasy chaos a wonderfully ordinary place to land.
The early fanservice is intrusive enough to deserve a warning, especially beside an otherwise gentle domestic comedy. The core setup is better than that impulse. Overworked programmer Kobayashi drunkenly invites dragon Tohru home, and Tohru arrives in maid attire ready to accept. Their first morning finds a useful rhythm between supernatural excess and practical fatigue. Kobayashi's restraint keeps Tohru's enthusiasm from exhausting the joke.
