Nine students form a school-idol group to attract new applicants and keep Otonokizaka High from closing.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Otonokizaka High School faces closure after years of declining enrollment. Nine students decide the appropriate response is to form a pop idol group, gain national attention, and attract new applicants. They are nervous but committed to the plan. The school's recruitment strategy has therefore acquired choreography and a substantially louder public profile.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Otonokizaka High may close because too few students are applying. Nine students choose a direct promotional campaign: become school idols and draw attention back to the campus. They need to turn an amateur group into something people will notice. Love Live begins with pop performance treated as both a dream and an enrollment strategy.

Gigguku

Otonokizaka is losing students, so nine girls decide to become pop idols and make the whole country look at their school. I adore the audacity of that answer. They are nervous and inexperienced, but the goal is concrete enough to pull every song toward something bigger than applause. School spirit has grabbed a microphone and refused to be quiet!

Father's Basement

Saving a school through an amateur idol group is the sort of plan that collapses under one follow-up question. Love Live survives the premise by embracing its sincerity. The students know they need attention and applicants, and performance is the tool they choose. That clear purpose gives the bright music a job beyond selling more bright music.
