Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Raishin enters the Royal Academy with Yaya, a girl-shaped automaton powered by magical circuitry. His written scores place him near the bottom, while his practical combat ability suggests the paperwork may be incomplete. The school gathers ambitious puppeteers and their living weapons, creating a fairly hostile educational environment. Yaya also has opinions about everything.

In an alternate early twentieth century, spell circuits give machines movement and personality. Raishin arrives at an elite academy with Yaya, his formidable automaton partner. His exam ranking is dismal, but combat reveals a different level of competence. Their goal puts them among dangerous students whose magical puppets make every school rivalry capable of becoming an armed confrontation.
