Claymore

Claymore builds dark fantasy around an order of silver-eyed women who hunt shape-shifting Yoma using the same dangerous power that makes ordinary people fear them.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Yoma prey on humans and can hide behind familiar faces. Villages hire warriors called Claymores to find them, then keep a careful distance from their silver eyes and oversized swords. Clare is one such hunter. She arrives, studies the problem, and demonstrates that being necessary does not make a person welcome.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Clare belongs to an order of women altered to hunt Yoma, monsters able to pass as human. Her first assignment brings her to a frightened village where suspicion reaches everyone. Claymore builds combat around disciplined sword work and a grim occupational bargain. To sense monsters, its hunters must live uncomfortably close to them.

Gigguku

Claymore opens with a perfect dark-fantasy silhouette. Clare walks into a washed-out village carrying a sword nearly as tall as she is, and everyone knows they need her while wishing they did not. Yoma can wear human faces, so every quiet room carries suspicion. The action is sharp, but Clare's controlled stillness is what owns the screen.

Father's Basement

Its medieval world can look like one long gray corridor, and the villagers are rarely subtle about prejudice. That bluntness supports a strong monster-hunting premise. Clare is a Claymore, altered enough to detect Yoma and feared for the same reason. Each job places her between people who need protection and people eager to treat the protector as contamination.
