Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Magic has become a formal technology taught through specialized high schools. Siblings Tatsuya and Miyuki enroll together, but entrance testing places her among elite students and him in the lower course. Tatsuya's practical knowledge does not align neatly with that ranking. The school trusts its measurements. He appears willing to let the error continue.

His technical knowledge immediately complicates the clean distinction between the school's two tracks, even before the siblings settle into ordinary class.

Then Tatsuya lands in the lower track despite understanding the technical side far better than that label suggests. A fantasy school opening with measurement theory is exactly my kind of ridiculous!

Father's Basement

The adoration between the siblings is persistent enough to repel plenty of viewers. Beyond that warning, the magic engineering has real appeal. First High converts supernatural ability into tests and rigid course divisions, but Tatsuya's technical knowledge makes the lower-track label look incomplete from the start. Procedure matters here, which is more interesting than another wand lesson.
