Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Shirayuki is a skilled pharmacist whose red hair attracts the attention of Tanbarun's prince. He orders her to become his concubine, confusing monarchy with charm. She cuts her hair and leaves for the neighboring kingdom of Clarines. There she meets a young man named Zen. Relocation has therefore produced a romantic complication, which is at least preferable to the royal demand.

Pharmacist Shirayuki refuses a prince who treats her red hair as royal property. She cuts it and crosses from Tanbarun into Clarines, where she meets a young man named Zen. Her refusal drives the premise. The romance begins after she has already chosen her own direction.

In Clarines she meets Zen, who offers a very different first impression from the prince she escaped. The romance gets its charge from her refusal to be treated as an object, while her skill as a pharmacist keeps the premise grounded in something she built herself.

A skilled pharmacist, she flees Tanbarun after its prince tries to claim her for her red hair. Meeting Zen in Clarines begins the romance only after her decisive refusal has established that rescue will not define her.
