Synopsis
Shoyo Hinata falls for volleyball despite lacking the height normally associated with front-row dominance. After a crushing middle-school match against gifted setter Tobio Kageyama, he enters Karasuno High determined to improve. Kageyama has enrolled there too. The rivals must now share a court, which is unfortunate for them and excellent for the rotation.
A small jumper and a controlling setter arrive at the same high-school volleyball club after meeting as rivals. Neither likes the arrangement. The court makes cooperation unavoidable. Receives create options. Positioning closes them. Every rally stays readable enough for one adjustment to change the pressure.
Hinata sees one undersized ace on television and decides the net does not get to define him. I was sold immediately. Production I.G maps the court so clearly that you understand exactly why a set works, then stretches the instant before impact until your whole body leans forward. The teammates feel like players with specific jobs, not scenery around the leads.
