Tanaka wants every day to be uneventful and has developed impressive methods for minimizing exertion. He sleeps in class, drifts out of conversations, and relies on his large, dependable friend Oota when movement becomes unavoidable. School life keeps introducing people with plans. The comedy comes from Tanaka defending stillness with genuine commitment while Oota quietly ensures he remains fed, upright, and approximately on schedule.
