Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Nozomu Itoshiki is a teacher with an exceptional ability to interpret ordinary life as proof of total despair. His high school class contains students whose emotional problems and habits are equally extreme. Lessons become episodic arguments about whatever minor custom has triggered the latest crisis. Stable classroom management is not expected.

Teacher Nozomu treats simple events as evidence for despair. His students answer with emotional problems and behaviors no less extreme. The episodic school comedy turns each new classroom concern into surreal satire, with every attempt at instruction escalating far beyond the original nuisance.

Gigguku

Nozomu can take the smallest inconvenience and expand it into a complete theory of human failure before class has properly started. Then his students answer from their own wildly exaggerated perspectives. Every lesson becomes a new collision between pessimism and absurd behavior. The escalation is relentless!

Father's Basement

The recurring self-harm material is neither incidental nor easy to recommend around. Some viewers will reasonably stop there. When the satire works, the format is efficient. Nozomu pushes a mundane concern toward total despair, his students introduce competing extremes, and the classroom becomes a compact argument about social behavior.

Itoshiki Nozomu is always in despair! Even simple things like paying for the toll on the subway can send him to a despair so deep only attempted suicide is the answer.
