✦A 2006 MADHOUSE crime series about a Japanese businessman taken hostage by mercenaries while carrying company cargo at sea.
Synopsis
Rokuro Okajima is sent to sea with a company disc and expects another unpleasant assignment. Mercenaries hijack the boat, take the cargo, and keep him as a possible ransom. Revy thinks he may be worth something to his employer. His performance review has acquired an armed audience. Corporate support is not immediately visible.
A Japanese businessman carries a company disc across the sea. Mercenaries seize the boat and take him hostage. Revy argues that he may have ransom value. The stolen cargo has made the trip dangerous for everyone aboard. Office obedience meets people who negotiate with guns.
Rokuro starts with a bad boss and a delivery assignment. Then mercenaries hijack his boat, seize the disc, and decide he might be useful as ransom. That jump from client drinks to armed captivity is WILD. Revy brings the pressure while he tries to understand why one piece of company cargo has turned the whole trip combustible!
The guns and mercenary posturing announce their cool factor immediately. The sharper hook is Rokuro, a worn-down employee whose company errand makes him disposable in a much more literal way. Revy sees ransom value where his bosses may not. That ugly overlap between corporate neglect and armed leverage gives the first setup more bite than the posing alone.
