Synopsis

Chise Hatori has grown up with neglect, abuse, and no reliable sense of family. At her lowest point, a man with a beast-like head and strange powers obtains her through a slave auction. He offers a future unlike the life she knows. The terms are not clear enough to make the arrangement comforting.

Neglect and abuse have left Chise without a place that feels loving. A powerful beast-headed man obtains her at an auction and pulls her toward an unfamiliar life. Magic changes the scale of her circumstances, not the troubling imbalance at their center. Every promise needs inspection.

That discomfort is the first honest question the series raises. Chise wants something resembling love or family, while the person changing her circumstances controls far more than she does. Caution belongs inside the premise.
