Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Fifteen-year-old Kaoruko Moeta creates manga under the pen name Chaos. After finishing at the bottom of a reader survey, her editor recommends a dorm for female manga creators. Her new roommates work in shoujo, teen romance, and shounen manga. Professional embarrassment now has communal housing and several nearby witnesses.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Kaoruko’s manga ranks last in a reader survey. Her editor sends her to live with three other teenage creators. Each roommate works in a different genre and brings another model of what making manga can look like. Kaoruko must keep drawing while living beside people who understand the work. Isolation gives way to comparison, support, and shared creative pressure.

Gigguku

Kaoruko calls herself Chaos, lands at the bottom of a reader survey, and moves into a dorm full of manga artists. PERFECT setup! Her roommates create shoujo, teen romance, and shounen work, so every conversation can approach the same creative fear from a different direction. The friendship matters because everyone understands how vulnerable it feels to put a page in front of readers.

A cute dorm can make professional failure look suspiciously comfortable. Kaoruko’s poor survey result still gives the premise a useful sting. She is not merely dreaming about manga. She is already publishing work that readers rejected. Living with creators from several genres gives her support without removing the central problem: she has to face the page again.
