Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Russo-Japanese War veteran Saichi Sugimoto searches Hokkaido for a hidden cache of Ainu gold. He soon partners with Asirpa, a young Ainu hunter whose knowledge of the land repeatedly proves more useful than his durability. Their search draws dangerous attention. It also requires regular meals, and the show considers food preparation serious field intelligence.

Sugimoto brings brute endurance while Asirpa knows Hokkaido as lived terrain. The gold hunt provides pressure, but the richer material lies in survival practice and period detail. That substance outlasts the visual bumps.
