The Slayers turned Lina Inverse into fantasy comedy royalty, while Gundam Wing and Fushigi Yugi later became major gateway shows overseas. Sailor Moon SuperS drew arguments over its lighter direction, but this season's lineup still defined plenty of first anime obsessions.
