Pokémon premiered and soon escaped anime fandom entirely, filling playgrounds with trading cards and arguments over favorite monsters. Revolutionary Girl Utena took the opposite route, growing through interpretation and repeat viewing, while The Slayers Try faced the tough job of following the widely praised Slayers Next.
