Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu dropped most of the military drama and let Sousuke turn ordinary school life into escalating chaos. Kyoto Animation's sharp comic timing made it the obvious favorite, while Please Twins and D.C. kept the era's complicated romantic melodrama machine running.
