Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Academy City trains superhuman students through advanced science. Touma Kamijou has a right hand that can negate supernatural effects on contact, though it does nothing for his terrible luck. His routine changes when a young nun named Index appears at his balcony carrying knowledge from the magical side of the world.

Then Index, a nun carrying forbidden magical knowledge, lands in his life. Her arrival brings the city's scientific world into direct contact with magic.

The series can bury a simple confrontation beneath terminology, rankings, and speeches about competing systems. Its foundation is stronger than the delivery. Academy City treats psychic power as engineered science, magic exists outside that framework, and Touma's negating hand disrupts both. Index gives him a personal reason to enter that conflict. When the explanations stop multiplying, the premise produces clean ideological friction.
