Academy City's scientifically developed psychic powers collide with a hidden magical world through Touma, whose right hand cancels supernatural effects on contact.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Academy City trains superhuman students through advanced science. Touma Kamijou has a right hand that can negate supernatural effects on contact, though it does nothing for his terrible luck. His routine changes when a young nun named Index appears at his balcony carrying knowledge from the magical side of the world.

Super Eyepatch Fox

In Academy City, scientific programs produce superhuman students. Touma's unusual right hand cancels psychic, magical, and divine effects, but leaves his terrible luck untouched. Then Index, a nun carrying forbidden magical knowledge, lands in his life. Her arrival brings the city's scientific world into direct contact with magic.

Gigguku

Academy City has superpowered students measured by science, while magic operates beyond its polished research towers. Touma stands in the middle with one right hand that can erase impossible effects and a life cursed by spectacular bad luck. Then Index appears on his balcony and the two systems collide. I love a setting where every explanation creates a new argument about what the rules even are!

Father's Basement

The series can bury a simple confrontation beneath terminology, rankings, and speeches about competing systems. Its foundation is stronger than the delivery. Academy City treats psychic power as engineered science, magic exists outside that framework, and Touma's negating hand disrupts both. Index gives him a personal reason to enter that conflict. When the explanations stop multiplying, the premise produces clean ideological friction.

Set in a city of scientifically advanced superhuman students, but in a world where magic is also real. Touma Kamijou&rsquo, s right hand, the Imagine Breaker, will negate all magic, psychic, or divine powers, but not his own bad luck.
