Ride Your Wave

Science SARU's 2019 romance begins when uncertain university student and confident surfer Hinako meets devoted young firefighter Minato in a coastal town.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Hinako moves to a coastal town for university. She is fearless while surfing and much less certain about what comes next in life. A fire in town brings her into contact with Minato, a young firefighter devoted to helping people. They spend more time together, including on the water, and a mutual attraction begins to form.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Start university beside the sea. Give Hinako complete confidence on a surfboard and far less certainty about her future. Bring a fire through town and introduce Minato, a young firefighter drawn to helping others. Ride Your Wave begins their romance through coastal life, shared time, and the different ways each person handles uncertainty.

Gigguku

Hinako can face a wave without hesitation and still have no idea what to do with the rest of her future. Then she meets Minato, a young firefighter whose instinct is to help. That contrast is such a clean romantic setup. Put them together in a coastal town, let them share the water, and the attraction already has movement.

Father's Basement

The devoted young firefighter is close to an idealized romantic entrance, and the marketed courtship makes no effort to hide its sweetness. Hinako keeps it from feeling entirely weightless. Her confidence belongs to surfing, not every part of adulthood, so meeting Minato does not erase the uncertainty that brought her to the coast.

Upon entering university, Hinako moves to a coastal town. She loves surfing, and when she's on the waves she's fearless, but still feels uncertain about her future.

What defines it

A Masaaki Yuasa romance-fantasy film. Bittersweet and lovely.
