The case begins with dead animals, but the boy guiding the investigation quickly becomes its strongest mystery. Creepy rural atmosphere, supernatural clues, and an isolated kid who deserves somebody to look twice. That opening has a grip.
Father's Basement
A specialist arriving in a hostile village is familiar supernatural-detective territory. What gives the opening an edge is its severity. Inugami investigates mutilated animals, Kabane accepts neglect as routine, and their working relationship begins through practical observation instead of instant sentiment. The case stays focused while quietly asking what the villagers refuse to see.
