The Anime Lad
Akira Shiroyanagi is a high school student devoted to games and konpeito candy. A mysterious girl named Mion draws him into a fight. He then joins a group told that they no longer exist in official records. The captives receive powers and become test subjects. Akira responds by planning to destroy the organization responsible.
Gigguku
Akira loves games, so naturally a mysterious organization makes his real life into the worst possible competition. Mion gathers people who have been erased from official records, gives them powers, and calls them test subjects. Akira refuses to accept the board as presented. He wants to climb through their system and crush whoever built it!
Father's Basement
People waking inside a controlled battle with new powers is established genre machinery. Akira at least understands that the other captives are not the entire problem. Mion's organization erased their official existence and made them test subjects. His hostility toward the structure gives the opening conflict somewhere useful to point.
