High school student Izumi has remarkable bad luck and a steady girlfriend named Shikimori. She is warm with him during ordinary school days, then becomes strikingly composed whenever falling signs or stray objects threaten his schedule. They are already dating, which removes the usual confession paperwork. Their relationship can instead concentrate on minor disasters and the continued survival of planned outings.

Izumi and Shikimori begin the series as an established high school couple. He attracts improbable accidents. She shifts from affectionate girlfriend to cool protector whenever trouble appears. With the romantic question already answered, the story follows dates and friend-group routines where care is expressed through small rescues and mutual embarrassment.
Gigguku
Shikimori starts where most school romances spend a season trying to arrive: the couple is already together! Izumi's absurd bad luck keeps interrupting normal dates, and Shikimori's whole expression snaps from sweet to fiercely capable when she protects him. The real charm is that he admires her cool side openly while she still gets flustered by his simplest sincere compliment.
Father's Basement
The falling-object version of Izumi's bad luck gets mechanical quickly, and the early episodes lean heavily on Shikimori's protective pose. Starting with a functioning relationship still gives the show a useful distinction. Neither lead needs elaborate excuses to spend time together. Their affection can emerge through routine school events, while the usual gendered rescue dynamic gets flipped without anyone treating it as a crisis.
