The Faraway Paladin

Its reincarnation premise begins as an intimate fantasy upbringing, with one human child raised in a ruined city by three undead guardians who teach him combat, magic, and faith.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Will is the only living human in a ruined city far from civilization. He is raised by Blood, an undead warrior, alongside Mary, a devout mummy, and Gus, a ghostly magician. Each guardian teaches him a different way to survive and understand the world. Their domestic arrangement is unusual. Their concern for his future is not.

Super Eyepatch Fox

In an abandoned city of the dead, a human boy grows up under three undead guardians. Blood teaches the sword, Mary teaches faith, and Gus teaches magic with a skeptical eye. Will's education is rigorous and affectionate, but the empty city around them carries unanswered questions. Coming of age begins inside a family that should not exist.

Gigguku

This undead training household is one of fantasy's sweetest weird families! Blood brings rowdy confidence, Mary brings patient conviction, and Gus treats every lesson like it might need a trapdoor. Will absorbs all of it while trying to understand the silent city beyond their home. The care in those lessons makes every small step feel enormous.

Father's Basement

The fantasy vocabulary is familiar, and the series sometimes states emotions that the family scenes already communicate. Those scenes remain its strongest case. Will's guardians disagree about methods and belief, yet their shared investment in him feels specific. Beginning with education instead of conquest gives the setting moral texture before the wider world asks anything of its young protagonist.

In the ruined city of the dead far from human civilization lives a single human child named Will. He is raised by three undead: Blood the heroic skeleton warrior, Mary the ladylike mummy priestess, and Gus the crotchety ghost wizard.

What defines it

An earnest, theological fantasy. Warm and thoughtful.
