A romance-averse boy caught between a glamorous newcomer and a childhood friend is factory-standard school comedy. Eita's reason for opting out gives the arrangement a little bite. He is aiming at medical school and treating his parents' divorce as evidence against love. Masuzu and Chiwa do not need exotic gimmicks to threaten that plan. Their existing places in his life are enough.
