A Lull in the Sea

Four students from an underwater village attend school on land, making adolescent romance inseparable from inherited prejudice between neighboring communities.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Hikari and three friends come from Shioshishio, a village where people live beneath the sea. When their school closes, they must attend class on the surface among students raised with different customs and assumptions. Old tension between land and sea follows them into ordinary adolescence. Changing schools was already sufficient paperwork.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Four childhood friends leave their underwater village each morning for a surface school. They face unfamiliar routines and prejudice shaped by a long separation between sea people and land people. At the same time, their own feelings are changing. The fantasy setting makes cultural distance visible while keeping the focus on young people who inherited it.

Gigguku

These kids climb out of a luminous underwater village and walk straight into the most socially dangerous place imaginable: a new middle school! The sea setting is gorgeous, but it is not decoration. Every friendship carries pressure from communities that have spent years misunderstanding each other. Then adolescent feelings start shifting underneath everyone, because apparently crossing one boundary per morning was not enough.

Father's Basement

The romantic entanglements multiply quickly, and Hikari's temper makes the opening abrasive. The world around them gives that friction weight. Sea and surface communities live close enough to trade insults yet far enough to preserve myths about each other. Sending four children across that divide every school day creates a clean premise where social prejudice and personal insecurity constantly overlap.

Since long ago, human civilization had lived on the ocean floor. However, there were many humans who wanted to live above the surface and they moved to land creating a fundamental separation between the two.
