The Garden of Words

A compact 2013 CoMix Wave drama about student Takao repeatedly meeting an older woman named Yukino in a garden on rainy mornings.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

High school student Takao finds artistic inspiration in summer rain and skips school to sketch in a garden. An older woman named Yukino is sheltering there too. They meet again whenever the weather cooperates and become comfortable companions despite the difference in their ages and lives. Attendance remains dependent on precipitation.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Rain draws Takao away from school and into a garden where he sketches. Yukino, an older stranger who seems equally adrift, uses the same shelter. Their repeated meetings create a private routine. The rainy season is temporary, so every quiet conversation arrives with a natural limit.

Gigguku

Takao goes to a garden when it rains because sketching there feels better than school. Then Yukino keeps appearing under the same shelter. Their whole connection grows through weather and repeated chance, which makes each meeting feel fragile. They have different ages and different lives, but for one rainy morning they can share the same little refuge!

Father's Basement

A high school student and an older woman forming a romantic connection should not be treated as uncomplicated. The opening at least gives that discomfort room to remain visible. Takao and Yukino meet in a public garden, speak cautiously, and return only when it rains. The temporary routine provides intimacy without pretending their circumstances match.

Some people revel and play in the rain, others dread it and hide at the first drop. For high school student Takao, a summer shower is a source of artistic inspiration… but when he skips school in order to sketch in a rainy garden, Takao finds an even greater muse in Yukino, an older woman who seems adrift in the world.

What defines it

Takao sketches while Yukino eats and avoids explaining why she is there. The garden lets them know each other outside the roles waiting beyond it. His craft and her uncertainty give their meetings direction even when neither names the relationship clearly.
