Six childhood friends vow to become treasure hunters. Five grow into formidable heroes, while Krai decides during their first quest that he chose poorly. His friends still make him the leader. He now faces dangerous work, enormous expectations, and the minor administrative difficulty of wanting to retire from all of it.

Krai is not chasing hidden greatness in the opening premise. He is trying to survive the expectations created by a childhood vow and a leadership position he never wanted.
