The ecchi premise invites repetitive attempts and increasingly blatant fan service. Mona’s position still gives those attempts a comic motive. She is not pursuing Medaka from established romance. She is trying to understand why the one transfer student she cannot charm refuses to validate the identity everyone else reinforces.
