Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

An obsessive fan recruits talented classmates to make a romance game, mixing harem comedy with unusually concrete arguments about writing and production.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Tomoya Aki is an avid fan who decides to create his own romance game after a picturesque encounter with classmate Megumi Kato. He recruits illustrator Eriri and writer Utaha, both highly skilled and entirely capable of disagreeing with him. Megumi becomes the proposed heroine and least dramatic person in the room. The new circle now needs an actual game, which was apparently phase two.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Tomoya wants to turn an idealized encounter into a romance game. He recruits a successful young novelist and a talented illustrator, then asks the understated Megumi to inspire its central heroine. Their small creative circle has ability but no shared vision. Comedy grows from competing opinions and the uncomfortable distance between fictional appeal and a real classmate.

Gigguku

Tomoya sees one windswept scene and decides he needs to build an entire game around it. That level of fan-brain escalation is incredible! Then he recruits talented creators who carry old grudges and zero interest in quietly following his vision. Megumi's calm presence keeps puncturing the dramatic setup. The production debates are funny because everyone cares far too much about making pixels feel romantic.

Father's Basement

The fan service and self-aware harem framing are present from the start, often with the subtlety of a pop-up ad. Underneath, Tomoya is trying to lead a tiny game project built from enthusiasm rather than planning. Recruiting writer Utaha and artist Eriri gives him talent he cannot simply command, while Megumi resists becoming his idealized heroine. The clashes over creative ownership provide the stronger comedy.

The life of Tomoyo Aki, a highschool otaku working part time to support his BD hoarding. With remarkable luck, he bumps head-first into Megumi Kato, the most beautiful girl he has ever seen.

What defines it
