Kokonotsu wants to draw manga, while his father expects him to inherit the family's rural candy shop. Hotaru arrives hoping to recruit his father for a major sweets company. He agrees to consider it if she convinces Kokonotsu to take over. Negotiations proceed through inexpensive candy and unusually elaborate demonstrations.

A would-be manga artist lives above his father's small candy shop. Hotaru, an heiress with encyclopedic dagashi knowledge, arrives to recruit the older man and gets assigned a condition. Convince Kokonotsu to inherit the store. Each attempt becomes a deep dive into one cheap snack's packaging, history, or peculiar technique.
Gigguku
Hotaru can hold up a tiny piece of candy and speak as if civilization depends on eating it correctly. That commitment powers Dagashi Kashi. Kokonotsu keeps trying to focus on manga, his father keeps plotting succession, and the shop counter becomes a stage for snack lore so specific it circles back into absurdity.
Father's Basement
The show sometimes resembles an advertisement that wandered into a rural sitcom, because real candy explanations occupy a lot of oxygen. Fortunately, Hotaru is too strange to function as a normal spokesperson. Her campaign to make Kokonotsu inherit his father's shop turns each snack into a debate, while his manga ambition keeps the sales pitch from closing.
