Synopsis

The Anime Lad

Otonashi wakes on a school campus with no memory of his previous life. Yuri, leader of an armed student resistance, informs him that this is the afterlife and points toward their opponent, a quiet girl they call Angel. The campus follows ordinary routines until the resistance interrupts them with elaborate operations. Otonashi joins while trying to understand the rules, because the guidance office appears unavailable.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Otonashi awakens in an afterlife school without memories. Yuri recruits him into a student resistance fighting the mysterious Angel. The campus resembles an ordinary school while the conflict does not. Otonashi still needs a clearer account of where he is and what everyone wants there.

Gigguku

Otonashi wakes up on a school field and gets told he is in the afterlife. He barely has time to process that before Yuri hands him the resistance briefing. The campus has ordinary classrooms and an extremely unordinary supply of weapons. That collision gives the opening ZERO interest in calm orientation, which fits a hero who cannot remember why he is there!

Father's Basement

The comedy can stomp directly across the drama, and the premise initially explains itself through a very confident teenager holding a rifle. Yet the dissonance has purpose. Otonashi awakens without memories on the strange campus before joining Yuri's resistance against the powerful, reserved Angel. Their missions are ridiculous enough to preserve adolescent energy, while the unanswered rules keep him from simply accepting the group's version of events.
