Dragon Ball Z

The sequel expands Dragon Ball's martial arts comedy into planet-threatening action while opening with Goku as a young father, making family legacy part of its enormous combat scale.

Synopsis
The Anime Lad

Years after Dragon Ball, Goku introduces his young son Gohan to old friends at Kame House. The reunion is interrupted by a powerful visitor whose arrival suggests Earth is part of a much larger martial world. Goku has acquired domestic responsibilities. The universe has declined to adjust its threat schedule accordingly.

Super Eyepatch Fox

Goku returns as a father, bringing young Gohan to meet the old crew. A fighter from space arrives with unsettling knowledge and power beyond familiar limits. Dragon Ball's playful martial world suddenly opens onto a vast cosmic scale without losing its familiar appetite for blunt challenges.

Gigguku

Seeing Goku arrive with a kid is strange enough. Then one visitor from space blows the doors off everything the original series treated as the limit. The power readings, the speed, the sheer confidence of that escalation, it is immediate. Dragon Ball Z announces that family now matters and the battlefield has become cosmic, then expects you to keep breathing normally!

Father's Basement

The franchise is notorious for stretched pacing, but this opening wastes little time redefining its scale. Goku is a father now, which gives the old hero a responsibility beyond chasing stronger opponents. A visitor from space makes familiar strength look suddenly local. The escalation works because it disrupts a warm reunion rather than beginning with anonymous spectacle.

Goku is back with his new son, Gohan, but just when things are getting settled down, the adventures continue. Whether he is facing enemies such as Freeza, Cell, or Boo, Goku is proven to be an elite of his own and discovers his race, Saiyan.

What defines it

Gohan's arrival gives Goku a family role just as Saiyan history reframes who he is. Battles become long tests of preparation and will, with former enemies joining the defense when larger threats emerge. Growth is measured through bodies, bonds, and escalating power.
