Her coworkers perform their own assigned character types while she learns the menu and attempts intentional cruelty. It is an ordinary hospitality job except honesty has been removed from the service model.

Maika's severe expression scares employers until a themed cafe finds the perfect role for it. Each waitress performs a specific personality for customers, and Maika is assigned the sadistic one. The problem is that she is genuinely considerate. Her efforts to act harshly turn routine orders into workplace comedy built on expression and timing.

Maika wants to smile warmly, but her face delivers a final warning before battle. Then a cafe manager sees her and thinks, hired! The gap between her sweet intentions and her assigned sadist persona powers every order. I love how the staff treat absurd roleplay as normal shift work, complete with rehearsals and panic when Maika's accidental intensity goes way beyond the script.

The premise depends on customers paying to be insulted, so tolerance for cafe archetypes is required. Maika gets hired because her intimidating expression suits the sadist role at a themed cafe, even though her actual nature is gentle. That contradiction carries more mileage than expected. The best comedy comes from mundane job concerns colliding with performances nobody sensible would include in a hospitality handbook.
