Phos receives sensible decisions as personal insults, which keeps the luminous landscape busier than intended.

Crystalline beings defend a quiet island while each Gem performs work suited to their physical properties. Fragile Phos wants combat duty and receives an encyclopedia assignment instead. Orange's CG animation lets light pass through hair and bodies, making hardness and fracture feel built into the world rather than added as decoration.
Gigguku
Land of the Lustrous could only look this strange because the CG is doing something hand-drawn animation would struggle to sustain. Light passes through the Gems. Hair scatters color across faces. Every body looks beautiful and physically vulnerable at once! Phos desperately wants a useful role, but their low hardness keeps making ambition a workplace safety issue. Even before the larger mystery breathes, the world feels completely unlike anything around it.
Father's Basement
Full CG remains an easy reason for anime viewers to leave, especially when facial motion occasionally feels too smooth. This is the rare production where the medium choice answers the premise. The Gems refract light and carry visible hardness ratings. They move like bodies made from specific materials. Phos's frustration is therefore tangible. Their society does not merely call them fragile. The entire visual system demonstrates what that limitation means.
